Executive Principal of THIS Wenping Li delivered the opening speech. She extended her congratulations to the 48 graduates who have successfully completed high school and received their dream offers. And she expressed her thanks to the teachers and parents. She also said “I think that if a person can shoulder and balance the following four responsibilities, then his life is ideal and happy. That is, the responsibility for oneself, the responsibility for the family, the responsibility for work, the responsibility for the society and country.” She then encouraged the graduates to always have the Tsinghua spirit of “continuous self-improvement and strong ethics”, have the international vision and mind of “combining Chinese and Western elements, embracing diversity”, and have the courage to assume responsibility. In the era of globalization, shoulder the responsibilities entrusted by the era and become a person who changes the world!
We invited Mr.Jeffery Yu (Class of 2013) to deliver a speech，this is our first time to let alumni gave a speech at Graduation Ceremony, we want parents and graduates to see how excellent our students are in college life and society. Jeffery was born in Singapore and after studied in THIS, he is proud to say that he is rooted in China with global perspectives. At THIS he acquired the ability to understand the Chinese culture and fluently communicate with peers from all over the world. And he feels THIS community is always supporting him. He said “Remember we are one humanity, our activities at THIS taught us how to be global citizens. Please carry this with you while you embark on your journeys and showcase what you’ve learned here in China.”
The student representatives Vanessa Leong, Leni Gao and Everest Guo delivered speeches in Chinese and English successively. Vanessa said “I have learned so much from our teachers. Not just the knowledge inside of textbooks, but through class discussions and the experiences they have.” Leni said “For 12 Lavender is more than just learning about friendship, but we also learned to love.” Everest said “for the atoms within us will forever be a part of man, and we will forever be a part of THIS.” And they are all grateful for the education of THIS, which enables them to become better – better learners, better time managers, and better humans. After the speech, all the graduates placed their wishes into the wish-box.
