On January 18th, a college counseling workshop for 11th graders was held in the staff lounge at THIS. The Academic Principal of THIS, Ms. Maxine Klimasara, along with the college counseling team, delivered an informative presentation to students and parents. The presentation covered high school graduation requirements, university application components, collaboration with college counselors, and academic, extracurricular and college planning. During the workshop, parents had the opportunity to meet our new Associate Director of College Counseling, Ms. Felicity Fu, who is very excited to join THIS!
Ms. Felicity Fu completed her elementary and middle school education in China before moving to Canada for high school. She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University in Comparative Literature, a Master’s degree in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an additional Master’s degree in Educational Entrepreneurship from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Boasting 15 years of experience in the field of college counseling, Ms. Fu has also served as an admissions interviewer at both Princeton and Harvard. She looks forward to interacting with students and parents and is passionate about helping students shine in their college admission process and succeed in their life journeys.
Ms. Amy Zou and Ms. Emily-Davis Hamre will also be working with grade 11. Together, the THIS college counselling team are dedicated to guiding students towards identifying their best fit college that will allow them to attain the best possible education in order to be well prepared for a productive, constructive, and satisfying life beyond college. The team offers a comprehensive array of services, including workshops, one-on-one meetings, university visits, extracurricular activity advising, and college application counseling.
The college counselors at THIS are looking forward to meeting the students and their parents. The workshop aimed to create connections with parents and students and to establish effective communication channels. THIS will continue to provide students with robust support and guidance for their college applications, empowering them on their journey of self-discovery and growth.
