· Secondary China Day · Youth ·

Chinese

Chinese

Debate

· Secondary China Day · Youth ·

The Chinese character “Qing” represents greenery, life and vigor. The character “Chun” stands for spring, beginnings and flourish. Together, these two beautiful characters – “Qing” and “Chun”, mean “youth” referring to the years of life that are filled with bright vitality, hope and sincerity.

This year, with “youth” as its central theme, THIS Secondary China Day brought a Chinese cultural feast to the whole school on February 24th.  The day included six cultural stations, a debate competition exhibition, and several thematic performances to immerse the whole THIS secondary school community in the beauty and charm of the Chinese culture.

Chinese

Poetry

With traditional poems and idioms to awaken students’ memories of youth, recite time-honored words in the rhythm of poetry!

Chinese

History

Using Kahoot, we learn Chinese history and geography having fun while appreciating ancient rivers and mountains.

Chinese

Traditional Game

Students recalled their childhood and played traditional folk games. With youthful dynamism, their smiles were bright like sunshine!

Chinese

Speech

From the students’ pen, youth is the wind, the fawn, the symphony, the bright stars in the night sky …… In the students’ speech, youth is the splendor, the ladder, the remorselessness, the dream …… Seeing the invisible youth and expressing their youthful voice with their wise and wonderful words!

Chinese

Handicraft

Paper-cut art, bracelet art, rabbit lanterns, homemade incense pouches……, we interpret the big world weaving colorful handicrafts from our youth with one knife, one paper, one needle and one thread.

齿

Chinese

Food

From memorable childhood snacks to popular Chinese sweet and salty ones; from the smoothness of boiled rivers and lakes to the fragrant tea art show, these reflect the intersection of crudity and elegance. What a wonderful mix of flavors from our youth!

Chinese

Debate

Debate is a showcase of our students’ language expression, logical thinking, and depth of their knowledge. Having won debate competitions at home and abroad, the THIS Chinese Debate Club featured the current outstanding debaters from grade 12 to give a Debate Performance, with “Growth is a process of reconciling with the world VS Growth is a process of changing the world” as the topic. The audience hung on every word and compelling argument.

Everyone’s stories of youth, no matter what form they take, mark a colorful chapter in our lives. The adolescent stage of most of our secondary students is just starting. For our oldest students, they already have a small bit to glance back at! We wish all students are be able to paint their own portraits of youth, full of color and vibrancy.

We certainly are looking forward to another wonderful China Day next year!
