China Day Preview: THIS Students Share Their "China Stories"

By 2026年01月30日

As the seasons turn, THIS annual China Day is once again upon us!

This year, under the theme "China Story," THIS Chinese Department aim to guide our students through diverse perspectives and compelling narratives to experience the profound richness of Chinese culture where tradition meets modernity, and to reflect on their responsibility in cultural heritage amid the currents of our times.

"China Story" are never singular symbols or labels—they are the heroic dreams found in historical chronicles, the love for family and country expressed in poetry, the spirit of craftsmanship preserved in traditional arts, as well as the curiosity of scientists, the courage of entrepreneurs, and the perseverance of ordinary people.

Through this theme, we invite students to explore three essential questions:

1. How can we recognize and understand the richness of Chinese culture through its diverse stories?

2. In the age of new media, how can we tell Chinese stories well and share Chinese culture with the world?

3. What value and significance do Chinese stories hold for us today?

This year's China Day will take place on Friday, February 6, 2026.

Primary Performance:Feb 6, 10:15-12:00

Secondary Performance:Feb 6, 12:45-15:15

We will also be livestreaming on THIS WeChat video channel.

In addition to our usual vibrant station activities and student performances, we are honored to host two distinguished guests:

Du Guozhi, a hydraulic engineer from the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, and Professor Liu Chang, Director of the Institute of Architectural History and Heritage Conservation at Tsinghua University's School of Architecture, who will share their remarkable stories with our students.

Let's look forward to it!
