Who Are We
Established in March 2009, Tsinghua International School (THIS) is open to foreign students and students from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau for grade 1 to 11. Tsinghua International School weaves together Chinese and Western education and culture. THIS fosters creative critical thinkers who have roots in China and prepare to lead in the global community.
The THIS educational ethos adheres to the motto of Tsinghua University: "self-improvement and moral integrity". THIS's core values are Wellbeing, Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, Respect and Leadership. The school has gradually formed its distinctive characteristics of “International Qualification, Chinese Roots, Tsinghua Characteristics" with positive and academically-strong school culture.
THIS is a WASC-accredited school since January 2016 and continues to be accredited by 2023. THIS is also a US College Board member, as well as the testing center for AP, ACT, and SAT.
THIS has a strong curriculum and a faculty who are at the forefront of their discipline and skill. THIS students have robust academic skills rooted in critical thinking, innovation, and leadership boosted by bicultural and global perspectives that aim to contribute to sustainable and positive change in the world. Their learning journeys are not limited within classrooms. They have won many competitions abroad and at home, including Chinese and English debate tournaments, World Scholarship Cup, International Space Settlement Design Competition, IGEM and several Mathematics Competitions. The school has over 50 secondary student-led clubs，over 20 primary ASA and more than 20 sports teams.
THIS graduates are accepted by top universities in the world, such as Harvard , Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia University, Brown University, Cornell University, University of Toronto, University of Cambridge, Tsinghua University and so on. Sixteen years of school’s achievements and school’s mission of combining Chinese and Western patterns of education have been highly recognized by the society, and has been one of the first choice of international school for oversea returnee families.

Who Can Apply
01 Applicants must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible:
1.Hold foreign nationality with a valid foreign passport and a valid Chinese visa, or
2.Be a permanent resident of Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan, with a valid permanent resident identity card issued by their respective region and a valid Mainland Travel Permit (Home Visit Permit for Hong Kong and Macao residents or Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan residents).
Only individuals meeting these requirements may apply.
02 Enrollment Eligblity
We are accepting applications for new first-grade students and transfer students in grades 2 through 11. First-grade applicants must be at least 6 years old by the first day of school.
