2022 THIS Summer School

随着去年暑期夏令营的成功开展，今年国际部暑期夏令营的第一期已于本周7月4日正式开营啦！本期夏令营包含小学、初中和高中三个学段的精彩课程。

After a smashing success last year, Tsinghua International School’s Summer Program is back by popular demand. We kicked off this week with Primary, Middle and High School programs.

在第一期的夏令营中，针对小学部分我们开设了绘本制作、中文戏剧和儿童合唱团课程，初中部分开设设计你的人生、创造性写作和武术课程，高中部分开设AP计算机科学预科、高级艺术工作室和排球课程。

Here is a brief peek into our first block. Primary students are packing in some action with creative writing in the Picture Book course, with Chinese Theatre, and Choir. Meanwhile, middle school students are exploring unexplored potential through Design Your Life, Creative Writing and Martial Arts. High school students are taking charge with Computer Science, Volleyball and Advanced Art.

第一周的夏令营学习已经圆满完成，快乐的学习时光总是过的飞快，孩子们在这一周的学习中收获了新的知识，建立起了与新伙伴的友谊，解锁了在国际部新的学习体验。

The first week of the summer school is coming to an end as the happy time of learning times always flies so fast. In the past days, the students gain new knowledge, build friendships with new friends, and unlock the new learning experiences in THIS.

在小学的绘本制作课和初中的创造性写作课上，同学们寻找属于自己的语言风格，书写专属于自己的故事；在中文戏剧课上，在国际部中文组笑笑老师引导下，小朋友们做形体活动训练、台词练习等，在欢声笑语中解放天性，练习表达；武术课上，Dora老师带领学生浸染中国武术的魅力，学习初级棍术，辅以体能训练于策略游戏，强身健体的同时，感受武术精神；高级艺术工作坊的教室中，扑面而来的是浓厚的创作氛围，小艺术家们全然专注和沉浸于自己的作品中，将巧思创意和艺术技巧挥笔纸上……

Students definitely enjoyed their learning as they searched for their own language, style and stories in primary Picture Book course and middle school Creative Writing course. In Chinese Theatre class, the primary students are training on acting and other stage skills guided by Ms. Cheung Xiaoxiao, our primary school Chinese teacher. Students felt liberated as they practiced acting through laughter and fun activities. In the Martial Arts class, Ms. Dora Li immersed students in the charm of Chinese traditions, learning elementary skills and techniques, supplemented by physical training and strategy, strengthening their bodies and minds. High school students were inspired in Advanced Art, the young artists were fully focused and immersed in their creations, putting their ingenious ideas and artistic skills on paper.

The THIS summer program is a wonderful way for children of all ages to participate in a broad range of academic and artistic classes in a meaningful, engaging, and fun manner. These classes are designed with summer in mind to ensure that students are learning while enjoying.

成长是一场盛大的行走。第一期THIS夏令营项目已经完成了第一周的学习，本周我们通过形式丰富的戏剧游戏，锻炼孩子们用肢体语言、表情、声音进行表达与沟通。孩子们在短短五节课的观摩、模仿、练习中对儿童戏剧的表演有了一个初步的概念。每次上完课都会有孩子用期待的语气跑来问我:“老师，我们还可以再做一次今天的活动吗?” 我和他们一样，也觉得意犹未尽，期待着第二天的相聚。

下周，孩子们将会穿起鲜艳可爱的舞台剧服装，用自己的方式排练出一台完整的舞台剧，并于周五在学校的大礼堂进行结业演出。相信孩子们在这个夏天，将会收获不一样的精彩！

Growing up is a grand walk. The first THIS summer program has completed its first week of learning, and this week, we work on practicing expression and communication with body language, facial expression and voice through a rich form of drama games. The children had a preliminary concept of theater performance in five sessions of observation, imitation and practice. After each session, students would often come up to me and ask that “Ms. Xiaoxiao, can we do the game again?” I felt exactly the same as them that we enjoy the class so much and I couldn’t wait to see them the next day.

Next week, the children will put on their bright and lovely stage costumes and rehearse a complete stage play in their own way, and perform the final performance on Friday in the school auditorium. I believe the students will experience a special kind of excitement this summer!

学生们都太棒了！他们对艺术工作室的课程非常感兴趣，每次他们在上课前就已经早早地来到了教室。艺术作品主要由他们独立自主完成，我的职责是在课堂中给他们提供所需要的指导，以此提升他们对于艺术创作的经验。

The students are wonderful! They are very interested in the Studio Art class to the point that they arrive much before the class starts. They are also working independently on their own artwork and I’m there to give advice and facilitate their experience.

我喜欢Jeremy老师的绘本制作课，因为他是一个很“搞笑”的老师，他为我们读书的时候声音也很“搞笑”！我喜欢这门课，还因为我可以练习绘画，可以画自己的故事！我还喜欢中文戏剧课，其中我最喜欢的一个环节是叫“绝不松手”，我们手拉着手围成一圈，太有趣了！

*来自中文戏剧笑笑老师：“学生们手拉手围成一圈，完成老师的指令，期间绝对不能松手，主要锻炼学生的肢体协调能力和协作能力。”

I like Mr. Jeremy’s Picture book class because he is a very “funny” teacher and his voice is “funny” when he reads to us. I also like this class because I get to practice drawing and painting my own stories! I also liked the Chinese Theatre class. One of my favorite parts was called “Never Let Go”, we held hands and formed a circle, it was so much fun!

* From Chinese Theatre Ms. Xiaoxiao Cheng:

Students held hands in a circle and completed the teacher’s instructions, during which they could never let go of their hands, mainly to exercise their physical coordination and collaboration skills.

我认为这个课程真的很有趣，我们可以进行大量的练习和锻炼，而且练习武术可以帮助我们保持健康。我从很小的时候就开始学习武术了，在课堂上我学得非常快。我认为学习武术很有用，不但可以保护自己，还可以让自己看起来很酷。Dora老师对我们非常友善，很有耐心，所以我们都很尊重她。

I think this course is really fun and we can practice and exercise a lot and it help us to be healthy. I think the Martial Art class is really good and I have been studying it since very young. And i think I learned it really fast. I think it’s useful when you want to protect yourself and also when you want to look cool. Ms. Dora is very kind to us. She never get angry to us so I think we show our respect to her and she is kind to us.

我非常喜欢我们的高级艺术工作室课程，因为我们的老师Jana女士是一个非常善良和幽默的人。她在上课时播放轻松的音乐，对我的创作很有帮助。她总是在你需要的时候帮助你，但她引导你，而不是直接给你答案。我觉得这里的环境非常舒适，对艺术创作非常有帮助，工作室里有你创作任何艺术品所需的一切。教室里面的学生总是很安静，但我们交流起来也非常容易。我现在已经有了两/三幅画作了，但在我来到这个课程、遇到Jana女士之前，我并不擅长绘画。所以我真的很感谢这里的同学和老师，他们给了我很大的帮助！

I really like our our Advanced Art Studio class for our teacher Ms. Jana is a really kind and humorous person. She plays relaxing music during their classes and it is good for your creation. She always helps you when you need but she leads and guided you instead of giving you the answer directly. I think the environment is very comfortable and wonderful for you to create your artwork. Inside the studio there’s everything you need to create any artwork. Students inside there are always quiet but you are free to communicate with others. I have made two/three paintings right now and I was really bad drawing before I came to this course and before I met Ms. Jana. So I am really thankful to the student teachers here. They help me a lot.

热血澎湃，朝气蓬勃，意气风发，斗志昂扬，那是我们在排球场上拼搏的模样。从小我就有一颗“隐形的”排球梦，我很少和家人们提起它，但是每当看到女排队员扣球，拦网，跳跃的身影，我的心都忍不住的和她们一起颤抖。正因这个不起眼的小梦想，我来到了清华附中国际部的夏令营。第一次进入室内球场的时候我就被它的辽阔所震撼到了。同学们都拼尽全力的在训练和奔跑。垫球很痛，传球很难，但是我们的排球Sue教练总是温柔又耐心的鼓舞着我们的士气，鼓励我们尝试新的动作。每次成功时，她都会说：太漂亮了！感谢国际部夏令营的一切，让我不光有机会站在“排球赛道”的起跑线上，还让我无与伦比的爱上了这个学校的老师，同学和氛围！

The blood surging, vigorous, fighting spirit, that is how we struggle on the volleyball court. I have always had an secret dream of being a volleyball player since I was a child. I seldom talked about it with my family, but whenever I saw the female volleyball players dunking, blocking and jumping, my heart could not help but tremble with them. It was because of this dream that I came to THIS summer program. The first time I entered the indoor court I was blown away by its vastness. All my classmates were all training and running as hard as we could. The padding hurt and the passing was hard, but our volleyball coach Ms. Sue was always gentle and patient, boosting our morale and encouraging us to try new moves. Every time we succeeded, she would say: Beautiful! Thanks to everything about this course. I not only had the opportunity to be the volleyball player for the first time, but I also fell in love with the teachers, students, and the school!
