Using our knowledge of how learning takes place, the most effective teaching methods, and the nature of a good scope and sequence – that is, what we teach and in what order, Tsinghua International School is now putting in place a comprehensive new curriculum.
The new curriculum plan for grades 1 through12 at Tsinghua International School has been completed and will be in place for the 2009-2010 school year. Each department has sequenced their courses and has also developed plans to offer Regular, ESL, and in some cases, Honors and Advanced Placement levels. Students will be placed in courses appropriate to their level of English, with consideration of their skills and needs in Math and Science.
Students may refer to our course descriptions as well as our list of graduation requirements in selecting classes for the upcoming year. Parents are asked to review the courses and help them in this process. In placing students, teachers, administrators, and counselors refer to four important sources of information: student requests, students’ past academic performance, teacher recommendations, and students’ English proficiency (as measured by the SLEP test).
