


Philosophy of the High School (Grades 9-12)
The high school curriculum focuses on preparing students for competitive colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, and other Western countries.
AP Courses
THIS is authorized by the College Board (USA) to offer the Advanced Placement (AP) program of courses for high school students, which challenge students in Grades 11 and 12 to study courses in Math, Science, and the Social Sciences at the university level. For the 2010-11 academic year, to be admitted to an AP course, a student must have at least an grade average of B+ in that subject and a recommendation from a teacher in that subject.

10th grade: World History
11th grade: Theory of Knowledge; Economics; AP World History
12th Grade: US History; Intro to Peace and Conflict Studies (Semester Course); AP World History, AP Micro and Macro Economics
English Language Arts
Grade 9: G9 English/Grade 9 English for Language Learners
Grade 10: G10 English/G10 English for Language Learners
Grade 11: G11 English/ G11 English for Language Learners
Grade 12: G12 English
Chinese Language Arts
Students attend Chinese language class daily, and are placed into a level consistent with their background, whether they have spent most of their schooling in China, the US, or Canada. Depending on their level, the focus for each class is adjusted to strengthen reading, writing, listening, speaking, and literary appreciation skills.
Math
9th grade: Geometry

11th grade: Pre-Calculus//Calculus
12th grade: Calculus, AP Calculus AB
Science
The science sequence is based on fulfilling 3 core courses: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. In 12th grade, students may take a science elective. In grades 10 and 11, students may be offered the choice of AP courses and electives.

Arts
At THIS, our Art program is focused around four main parts: Western art, Eastern art, Music, and Drama.
During the first two years of high school, students are required to take a semester long course in each area. During the last two years, students choose one area on which to focus.
Technology
As in the Middle School, THIS is using the recommendations of the Computer Science Teachers Association (USA) in designing a curriculum that is practical for our high school students. Students will have the opportunity to explore Web Design, Programming, Graphic Design, Computer Photo and Video Editing, and more.
Physical Education
Our physical education program keeps students bodies active to complement their academic studies.
